Like so many things in life, music is better with friends!
This duo combines the talents of vocalist Deanna Heise and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Tracy Jane Comer, both standout artists in their own right. Put them together and you've got something really special. (More about each at BIOS, below.)
These gals met in 2024 and quickly discovered a strong synergy in their natural vocal blend and broad musical tastes. They will be performing as a duo, but (as per the name), they plan to involve special guests at times to increase the fun!
Repertoire includes tasteful and unique covers of everything from rock/pop to country to folk, with lots of variety and crowd-pleasers. With just two people and a few acoustic instruments, they have a small footprint and can be as chill or as spirited as the venue and occasion calls for.

Tracy Jane Comer has been part of the Madison music scene since the early 2000s, under the mentorship of area legend Randy Green (of Randy's Recording). Since then she has continued solo work and has been part of many groups, publishing a number of recordings along the way. Opening credits include Dar Williams, Willy Porter, Peter Mulvey, Ellis Paul, Love & Theft, and many more.
A multi-instrumentalist (8 and counting) in styles ranging from classical to classic rock and everything in between, Tracy is a past winner of INSTRUMENTALIST OF THE YEAR by the Madison Area Music Awards. Tracy thrives when collaborating with others, creating interesting song accompaniments and vocal harmonies. Current groups include Top Shelf, Soul 2 Soul, Bob's Your Uncle, and Common Chord, and now Better With Friends.
Deanna Heise is a vocalist and musician who has established herself as a versatile performer with a deep passion for music. Whether singing lead, harmonizing with fellow musicians, or jamming on hand-held percussion or ukulele, Deanna loves bringing music to life with her voice and rhythm and engaging audiences with energy and enthusiasm.
Deanna currently performs with acoustic duo Better With Friends and also funk-and-groove band Lynda and the Zeros. She also sings weekly with the Praise Band at her church and was a member of Madison-area duo Highway 151 from 2022-2024.
